Paris for Mothers' Day

We were in Paris, Virginia that is! We left Friday afternoon when John got off the train from NJ/NY and headed over to Paris, VA for some camping over the weekend. Pops is a local Lions Club member and the Northern VA Lions Club has a youth camp they rent out. So Pops made the reservations and sponsored our group. Three other families joined us for the weekend (Huffs, Steimers, and Wheelers) along with my brother. Pops and Gigi stayed at a local B&B nearby. Gigi wouldn't have stayed there if her life depended on it. The cabins literally had four walls and a roof and were filled with bunk beds made out of plywood and 2x4s. We slept on our sleeping bags on top of these thin waterproof mattresses. The bathhouse was a short walk down the muddy road and the mess hall was slightly further down from that. The kids had a GREAT time though! All eleven of them! They wandered around the cabins, hiked thru the woods, had a scavenger hunt, played hide-n-seek, learned paintball gun target practice (thanks to my brother), roasted s'mores and had plain old outdoor fun! They were so dirty when they got home. Filthy really. John surprised me with a cake for my birthday Saturday night. My peeps surprised me with some bday gifts too!
The adults sat around the campfire both nights after the kids fell asleep and we would laugh and cut up and talk about the day's activities.
It was exhausting, but fun. I am glad we did it. I hope the twins are old enough to remember the trip. I know Lauren isn't old enough yet. But we've got some great pics to remind us of that fun weekend.....in Paris!
