19 months old. We've gone every year with the exception of 2007 when Kristin was pregnant with Mikayla and Lauren would be joining our family. This year Mikayla and Lauren were 20 months almost the same age as the twins were when we first started going to OBX.
The weather was nice the majority of the time. We had a cold front settle in Sunday and some rain, but by Wednesday it was back on the beach! The kids had a great time playing in the sand and water. Pops and Gigi came down for a few days and stayed at a nearby hotel, so we enjoyed the indoor pool at the hotel on Tuesday when the weather was cruddy. We also went on a Wild Horse Tour with them on Wednesday. We all piled into a Suburban and went four wheeling up the beach to Carova to find the free-roaming wild horses. We saw three horses on our tour! The kids enjoyed riding on the beach in a car while Lauren slept most of the ride. On the colder days we took the kids to the bumper cars and putt-putt. We also did the race cars on our last night there. We made several trips to the ice cream shop too! The rest of the time was spent on the beach enjoying the weather though. Nights were spent relaxing a bit with Mike and Kristin after all the kids went to sleep. We actually read most evenings which was nice. We checked out of the house Saturday morning, but stayed in OBX until after lunch and went back down to the beach for one last time. The weather was perfect!
We also had some visitors this year. Rusty and Denny came down for a few hours on Monday for a visit which was very nice. It's always wonderful to see them and catch up! My friend Chris also came over to the house on Thursday evening. He lives in OBX and he came over for some pizza and we visited for a few hours. We went to high school together. It was great catching up with him as well. He gave John some great leads on potential clients in the OBX area too!!
As usual the week went by way too fast. We had just got settled in when it felt like we had to turn around and pack the van to leave. We are talking about spengin 2 weeks down there next summer. John has the flexiblity to work from anywhere, so we may just try it next year!
Enjoy the pics!
