After almost a year and a half of going through the motions of adopting Lauren, we received the signed Final Order from our lawyer and Caroline Co Judge yesterday. This confirms that the adoption is final! We are absolutely thrilled to finally be through this process. We now just have to wait to have a new birth certificate issued which can take up to 12 weeks. Once we have that in hand, Lauren can get a social security number.
It is so hard to believe that Lauren is approaching her 1st birthday. This year has been an absolute whirlwind! She has truly been such a blessing to this family and we couldn't be any happier.
I recall Stacey and I talking a couple of years ago about the possibility of adopting and our church supports Bethany Christian Services (a local adoption agency we used). Every time there would be an introductory meeting offered, we always had something already scheduled so we never had the chance to attend any of their sessions. Now, we know why - We were meant to have our Lauren! She truly is a gift from God and we are honored that He has chosen us to care for and love her. Thanks also goes out to Meghan (Lauren's birth mother) for bringing Lauren into this family.
